This looks like Purple Passion flower fruit. The scientific name is 'Passiflora incarnata'. Another common name is Maypop. There is a passionflower native to Missouri.

do they grow from a vine ? and where did they come from ? are they the ones you can eat ?

It is a vine-like plant. Fruits are eaten by animals and spread that way in wooded areas. I hear this type of passion flower fruit is not worth eating. It doesn't have much flavor and the quality just isn't that good. There is information about this on the internet if you are looking for more. University of Missouri Extension does not have a guidesheet or specific information on this plant.
