Sugar Maple leaf problem #140682

Asked July 14, 2013, 11:27 PM EDT

I have two/three sugar maples that the leaves seem to be yellowing and have red spots or burnt spots on them. I am really hoping not to lose the trees and was wondering if I should treat them with something. I will attach a picture of the leaves - and if you would need a picture of the whole tree I could do that also. Just hoping to save them! Thanks!!

Expert Response

The photograph isn't sufficient to make a diagnosis.  A diagnosis is much more likely if a plant specimen can be submitted to the ISU Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic.  Tips for submitting plant specimens to the clinic can be found at http://www.ipm.iastate.edu/ipm/info/contact

Plant specimens can be brought to the County Extension Office in Carroll or mailed directly to the clinic.
