Creating a Facebook timeline in MS Word with multiple pictures #140251

Asked July 12, 2013, 1:04 PM EDT

Background: Our Dodge County University of Wisconsin-Extension office has a Facebook page. Our timeline image was created in MS Word with multiple picutes, which are resized and saved as a new JPEG file. When we upload our file to Facebook, the timeline photos are blurry. It seems that single, unedited photos are crisp and clear, while any changed originals are not.
Our questions:
1. How can we create a multiple-picture timeline and have it retain it's clarity when posted?
2. What's the best way to implement attribution for images we use on our website and facebook? When we "stamp" the creative commons code & author on a photo by adding a text box to image, and then resaving as a jpeg, they are also blurry.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. We installed the "ask an expert" feature on our website, so thought we'd try it out with these image questions.

Expert Response

It sounds like your pictures are initially saved small then getting pixilated as facebook tries to make them larger.  Your attribution sounds fine.  You just have to have pictures of a higher resolution.

Our pictures are digital pictures at a high resolution or are downloaded from internet with higher resolutions. What is an ideal "higher resolution" to be using? When grouping pictures together, and saving the grouping from Word to a JPEG with the snipping tool, they become blurry when uploading our timeline on Facebook.
