My stawberries (planted as bare roots last December) are mostly doing great, except I recently noticed some black spots and streaks on the leaves of several of the plants. Please see attached photos. What is this and what are my possible remedies? Thanks!

Your spots could be as simple as spots on the leaves. However, it may be an indicator of Strawberry Leaf Spot. This is caused by the fungus Mycosphaerella fragariae, which starts out as small purple spots. As they grow, the center of the spot turns light gray or white but maintains a purplish red border. These spots remain small and circular earning the common name “bird’s eye spot”. In severe cases, several spots can grow together and kill the leaf.
