reveille lawn turning brown #129862

Asked May 26, 2013, 4:09 PM EDT

I have had a reveille lawn installed about four years ago.  It has taken me awhile to dial in the fertilization percentages.  This year lawn was doing great with all the moisture this spring.  Now grass is browning up and I am not sure what to do?  I have been watering long and infrequent.

Expert Response

Your lawn needs more water to stay green. Increase your irrigation run time.

If i am currently watering each zone for 30 mins, how much more water does the lawn need.

Unfortuneatly everyone's landscape irrigation system, setup, and water pressures are different so you must quantify the amount of water being applied per minute for your specific system. To do this place many stright-sided cans around your lawn and run each zone for 10 minutes. Measure the depth of water in each can after 10 minutes and take an average. Your lawn will need 1 inch of water per week this time of year and 1.5" of water per week in the heat of the summer.
