I have two different color eggplant on my tree. They start out a beautiful shiny purple but then turn brown. They do not look to be infected at all as there are no spots or softness on the fruit. What do you think?
By the way, they are being grown in BIG pots in my backyard in South Florida.

Brown color usually means over maturity with purple-skinned eggplants. Another indication is when you cut into the fruit and see the seed are hard and dark tan in color, they have been on the plant too long for highest flavor. Check the seed pack or plant stake for recommended days to harvest, or check that value from the Florida Vegetable Gardeneing Guide: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/vh021. It says 90-110 days from seed or 75-90 days from transplanting.
