Austrian Pine problem #129120
Asked May 22, 2013, 3:19 PM EDT
Can anyone tell me why an otherwise healthy pine has one side with bare branches that seem to be reaching around to the east side? This tree does have sapsucker marks about 4 1/2' from the bottom.

Expert Response
Hello. Before I can even guess a solution, what kind of pine is it? On a Ponderosa Pine, the Ponderosa pine budworm can cause leaves to fall off and leave a bare branch. Can you please bring in a sample to our CSU Extension Office at 9595 Nelson Rd. in Longmont, and our diagnosticians will diagnose it for you!
