Cherry tree disease - delayed dormancy #126872

Asked May 13, 2013, 11:52 AM EDT

I have a cherry tree that has not blossomed out. The garden center mentioned that there could be a bark disease that is causing this delaed dormancy. As the photos show there is an abrasion as well as a split/tear at a branch joint. Please advise as to what can be done for this problem. The tree appears very healthy otherwise.

Expert Response

Since you are in Benton county I'd talk with the folks in the Plant Clinic at OSU. This is clearly a plant disease (I'm an entomologist).
