The Pachysandra in our front yard has turned brown. This started to happen last summer and now it's worth. The only thing that changed is that a tree that shaded the yard was removed. What could be causing this and what can be done to fix the problem? we are in Shaker Heights. thanks.

Pachysandra typically thrives in shade. It can also be affected by drought, overcrowding or blight. I am including 2 very good links, 1 a general growing guide and the other from the University of Illinois on blight

I believe you gave a very important clue when you stated that a tree that shaded the yard has been removed. Although you don't state that the area is now full sun, that is my assumption. If that is the case your pachysandra will continue to struggle. If that is not the case, please write back and we will continue to explore what is going on with your plants.
