Hello. Attached are two photos of a plant growing in my woodland shade garden. Can you tell me what it is? Should I be pulling it out or is it harmless? There is a lot of it. When the plant is small and new there is a darker patch in the center of the leaf that fades away as the plant grows larger. Thank you, Kim Kimball

I'm quite reluctant to ask you for help because I'm supposed to know how to help the homeowner of these leaves, but I do need to ask. She is asking what to do because of the leaf condition, and I first need to identify the plant. I only know that it is bushy and that something is causing the "good leaves" on the right to look like the "bad leaves" on the left. Good day. I have a small farm in Osceola County, we raise Hereford hogs and Dexter beef as well as laying and meat chickens. I am considering raising lambs for slaughter for something different. We had the best lamb over last Christmas that it prompted me to give it try. I don't want to raise sheep, just purchase lambs and finish them off. I was considering putting them with the cattle as that is the only pasture I have. My pasture is not the best, but not the worst also. The cattle are supplemented with hay and a mineral block... and plenty of fresh water from a drinking post. Is there anything special I need to consider? lots of opinions on the internet, as well as asking around to those who raise them. Thanks for your time.

Hello! We have six hydrangea bushes in a row that are about two years in this spot. This year one leafed out oddly, almost like herbicide damage but it’s not consistent over the whole plant. Hopefully you guys can give me some ideas. Thank you.

I have several older rhododendrons - planted in the late 60s, or maybe early 70s, that were healthy every year, but this spring a few have developed a disease that is causing the leaves to turn brown from the tips inward. Some have flowered, and some are leggy and have barely produced leaves that haven't turned brown. Is there a cause you can identify and a remedy or treatment you can suggest? There may have been some minor damage to branches from the past icy winter in February. Thank you!

Installing concrete patio close to Cottonwood trees-Please respond #752702

I am considering installing a concrete patio in between four large Cottonwood trees. It will be a slab that does not require much excavation, perhaps about six inches at the most. The edges would be about 2-3 feet from the trunk of any of the trees. My question is this; do I need to be concerned about the trees getting enough water since the slab will block a small portion of the tree from getting water that would formerly be soaking into the ground? A maple in our yard started dropping seed pods with 4-6 leaves attached to each. This started about 5 days ago. One morning I picked up over 85 of these! They seem to be broken off just after the few leaves. Do you have any idea what would cause this?

Reliance peach tree question #752690

Hi, Our peach tree began to flower and then the blooms shriveled, turned brown and many of the leaves curled. The tree has a gash/opening on the trunk and on one of the branches, in fact some fungi has started growing in the one on the trunk. What can I do to save the tree? My mom suggested cutting it back severely and treating with Bordeaux. What would you suggest?

Neglected knockout roses fail to thrive #752689

3 knockout roses have done OK but not great in full sun in same spot for 10+ years. Always bloomed, though not nearly as much as others I see and shape was spindly, not a full bush. Had some insect or disease that ate leaves for many seasons but I never addressed it. Never did anything to help them along after first few years other than pruning and snipping off spent blooms throughout season. No fertilizer, no mulch, no extra water. I know, my bad. Pruned them to a foot or less in March. Very slow to grow after this pruning. Never had this limited growth after pruning before. See just one flower bud. See photos. Can they be saved? Or better to invest in new knockout roses. If new ones needed, hardiest variety? Thanks.

Attached are 3 pictures of my peach tree, 2 leaf problems and 1 of the trunk of the tree. The leaves are all curled up with some colored spots. I had just sprayed the tree with pyrethrin a week prior to the pictures due to a bug infestation from last year. No bugs are appearing this year. Should I spray the tree again? The tree is loaded with fruit.

I have two Dakota Pinnacle birch trees in my back yard, that are in their 6th year in this spot. I got them from Gertens. The one on the right is always slow to wake up each spring, by several weeks compared to its yard mate. Every year we think it is dead. This year we think it is dead again, it has never been behind this far, compared to the other. However, when I break off a bud and crack it open, it is green and not dried up. Also, I havent been tracking the date at which it has leafed out in previous years. So maybe the other tree just leafed out early with the warm-ish winter and the disparity between leafing out is larger? Thoughts? If it isnt dead, is there something I can do to hurry it along or help it?

I too have a lot of black pepper looking things around my home they get into everything and sometimes they pierce your skin and when you try too remove it I see that it just goes deeper and deeper into my skin. I would like to know we’re these come from and how to get rid of them. I have also seen those little pinkish red things they actually be on my ceiling fans and it feels like they are dropping things on my head and when I look up at them they hide and than every now again peek out there heads to drop something do n it’s so small I don’t know what it is and I live around a lot of water can someone help please!!!! #752654

Lopsided Japanese Maple Tree after ice storm #752653

Two key branches on the Japanese Maple were broken during the ice storm. The tree is growing well but more on one side than the other. What can I do to even it out and prevent disease where the branches were lost? Alternatively, should I contact an arborist?
