Hello, for several weeks now I have been getting bitten at night. The results are very itchy raised areas. One afternoon I found a bug on my shirt. I started to squish it and then stopped. I tried to photograph the best I could. It's a little squished. If you enlarge the picture you can get more detail.

Tiny flies #844333

I have plants in my house , But for the last six months I have had these tiny flies or bugs, flying in my house, I have called a pest guy last week and he said they were fruit flies, we don’t have fruit anywhere on counter and if we have it’s bananas, for two years we have had a swarm of bugs we have never had in beginning of October outside and they are so small they can come thru screens, my neighbors don’t and they are more in one spot of the house and will fill up the window sill. I think some got in and have been multiple in my house, These Are one and a half week of having this bug trap on. Please tell me what they are and how to get rid of them , before I spend tons of money for pest guy.

Damage to Apple Trees I can't identify #844082

Hello,

I live in Steamboat Springs CO at exactly 7000ft. I have several Apple Trees including Sweet 16, Honey Crisp, Zester, McIntosh, Haralred, Red Wealthy... recently on ALL the different varieties I have found little elliptical shaped cuts with tree material coming out of them on the small branches. These tress are relatively newly planted, 1 to 2 years. Most the leaves on these branches still look healthy. No insects are seen anywhere. I don't think it's blight, it looks surgical! Maybe a boring/burrowing insect but almost too big and precise of cuts... maybe a bird?? I don't know. I'm hoping it's something you the expert have seen before and could advise me about!! I have attached pictures. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Large grubs in soil of asparagus patch #840665

While weeding my 3' by 30' asparagus patch last week I found at least 8-10 large grubs in the soil. I also have found several plants that have died. I think the grubs are killing the plants. Is there anything organic I can use to control the grubs?

Azaleas #833375

We have always enjoyed the azaleas in our yard (4 different varieties). The last two years we have been experiencing a problem only on two of these shrubs (so far!). The leaves are gone (eaten?) with only the veins left. I can observe multiple, tiny (the size of a pin head), dark brown or black spots (?) on some of the leaf surfaces (top side). What's the problem and what's the treatment. One of the azaleas is completely defoliated. Thanks for any info you may have!

These bugs swarmed for two+ days from around a window. They range in size. Some had wings, others crawled like ants. What are they? Are they eating our house?

Teeny tiny bugs in my house #823226

I have found tiny bugs in my kitchen from time to time. They are smaller than fruit flies, and I suspect they were brought inside from my outdoor geraniums (which I keep from year to year in a sunny window, photo 1) or a decorative plant that died when I moved it inside last fall. A friend watered my plants in Oct when we were gone for a month, and she apologized for killing the tall plant. I'm guessing it was the bugs, not her. That dead plant has since been moved to the garage last fall until I get around to disposing of it, photo 2. All of my live plants consist of 4 geraniums and one plant (I don't know what it is), which seems very healthy, in another room, photo 3. I thought I noticed "spider webs" in one of the geraniums a month or so ago, but I cleaned them out along with dead leaves and dead stems. I never see the bugs on any of the leaves. In years past my geraniums have flowered all winter, but not this year. Presently only a few blooms have appeared. Is this because of the bugs? How do I get rid of the insects? Do I just put up with (almost) nonflowering geraniums until I move them outside? Will the bugs die when the geraniums go outside? Thank you so much!

treating for insects in my vegetable garden #819271

Had a bad time with earwigs and cutworms last year. used diatomatious earth and neem oil on the plants but wondered about treating the soil this spring. I am fine with using chemicals if needed. Also had something in my strawberries, only saw the pupae about the size of a grain of rice looked like a beetle grub. It would eat all the roots and I didnt notice till half my bed was gone. any advice appreciated.
