Hi, please recommend a rhododendron that will only grow to 3 ft tall by 3 ft wide for the front of our townhouse in Columbia MD. There are existing rhod’s that are healthy in front of home so conditions are good for this bush. Thanks

Disappearing garden #865345

My mom. age 91, has a disappearing garden. For the past 2 years, we plant seeds which grow into pretty leafy vegetables. The next time I go out they are disappearing with large holes or totally gone overnight. I tried to replant but nothing came up. When I dug up the row, no seeds were there. It is a raised garden with sand. It is very frustrating to put in so much effort and get very little to harvest. Do you have any idea what could be causing her garden to disappear? I do see ants on the ground and we have sprayed for bugs but no help.

Hello, Several branches from my weeping white spruce either broke off or were eaten by an animal. Do you know if they will grow back? Would fertilizer help? Also last year this little tree seemed to attract many bees. Is this common? Thank you for any help you can offer.

Why did my rhododendron die? #865339

This rhododendron plant is on the front of the house, facing southwest in full sun. It was apparently stable last summer; leaves began to curl in the fall but stayed green all winter; then turned brown when warm weather came. It is one of three plants, all 30+ years old, in the same bed that have died. I see no sign of insects on or under the leaves, and no sign of rot near the ground. Can I plant another azalea/rhododendron in the same spot? Should I treat the soil first? With what? Thank You!

Planting tree where previous tree was just cut down #865336

I had a Norway Maple, about 14-15’ tall cut down recently. It was slowly dying and the arborist said it was due to sun scald. I want to plant a malus Red Baron in its place. Is that ok to do if I have someone grind down the stump?

If not, I have another location, on a slope, but it gets a lot of rain runoff from the roof. Would it be too wet?

Hi! We just moved to Ohio from Arizona so we're nott real familiar with the state's flora. The house we purchased has these vines in the front yard which appear to have grown up the tree and through the bark... if it's invasive or parasitic, I would like to remove them. Thank you for your time!
